H-CLET Learning Guide
Step through a guided 12-lesson interactive learning experience that walks you through every concept behind the Terran Epochal Compendium and the Holocenic calendar system.
Quick Concept Guide
A short conceptual walkthrough covering everything you need to understand what TEC shows and why it matters.
What is TEC?
The Terran Epochal Compendium (TEC) is an interactive layer of the H-CLET calendar system. H-CLET — the Holocenic Compendium of Lunisolar and Equinoxal Time — anchors a lunisolar calendar to the Holocene epoch (11,700 years ago), combining lunar months with solar seasons in a coherent framework.
How months work
Each H-CLET month begins at the new moon. A standard year has 12 lunar months; a leap year has 13. The leap month (Trinex) appears roughly every 2–3 years to keep the calendar aligned with the solar year — this is the Metonic principle, used by Hebrew and other lunisolar calendars.
Holocenic Year numbering
Year 1 of H-CLET began at the first new moon after the spring equinox of 9701 BCE — the Holocene GSSP. Today's Holocenic Year is simply the count of years since that moment. The year 2024 CE is approximately HY 11,725.
Three zodiac systems
TEC shows three simultaneously: the Tropical zodiac (season-locked, 12 equal signs), the Sidereal zodiac (star-referenced, 12 equal signs), and the IAU Constellation system (actual star boundaries, 13 unequal regions). They diverge by about 24° today due to axial precession.
Axial precession and ages
Earth's axis wobbles over ~25,772 years, causing the vernal equinox to drift westward through the constellations. TEC tracks where the equinox currently falls using IAU boundaries — yielding the precessional "age." We are currently in the late Age of Pisces, approaching Aquarius.
Grand Era structure
H-CLET groups years into a Grand Era of 1,021 years (12,628 lunar months). Within that, 53 Metonic Phases of 19 years each, plus one Anchor Phase of 14 years. This structure produces a calendar that drifts only ~4 seconds per era relative to the mean synodic month.
